Growing up in a family business gave me front-row seats to the complexities of running companies across cultural boundaries. Watching my parents navigate supplier relationships in three different countries, manage employees who spoke four languages, and adapt German business practices to Asian markets sparked my fascination with international commerce long before I knew it was an academic field.

Hong Kong was the obvious choice for serious international business study – this city is where East meets West in the most literal sense. Every major multinational has operations here, traditional Chinese family businesses operate alongside Silicon Valley startups, and government policies shift between Western financial practices and mainland Chinese economic priorities. It’s a living laboratory for understanding global business complexity.

My research expertise centers on cross-cultural management, international strategy, digital transformation in emerging markets, and family business governance across different cultural contexts. What I offer students is seven years of experience studying business phenomena that don’t fit neatly into Western management theories. Real international business is messier and more interesting than textbooks suggest.

I’ve coached 310+ students through business dissertations spanning multiple continents, industry sectors, and cultural contexts. My clients range from traditional MBA students to senior executives pursuing advanced degrees while managing international operations. The common thread is research questions that require understanding business behavior across cultural, legal, and economic systems.

Technical capabilities include advanced statistical analysis, comparative case study methodology, survey research across linguistic and cultural barriers, and qualitative analysis of organizational behavior in multicultural settings. I work with international business databases, multiple statistical software packages, and various citation conventions depending on target journals and academic traditions.

What sets my coaching apart is practical experience with the logistical and cultural challenges of international business research. Collecting reliable data across different countries involves navigating varying legal frameworks, cultural attitudes toward research participation, language barriers, and different business practices. I help students anticipate and solve these challenges.

My coaching philosophy emphasizes actionable insights. Business research should inform real management decisions, strategy development, and policy formation. Academic rigor is essential, but so is relevance to practitioners dealing with actual international business challenges. I push students to consider how their findings could influence real organizations.

The scope challenge in international business is particularly acute – globalization means local business decisions have international implications and vice versa. I help students identify research boundaries that capture important dynamics without becoming unmanageably complex. The key is strategic focus that acknowledges broader systemic forces.

Hong Kong’s position as a global financial center provides unique access to business networks, industry data, and emerging market trends. That connectivity helps my students identify research opportunities and access resources that might be difficult to obtain elsewhere. Location matters in international business research.

My 94% success rate reflects understanding of both academic requirements and business realities. Many students are working professionals balancing research with demanding careers and international travel. I help them design efficient research approaches that produce quality results within realistic time constraints.

What motivates me most is research addressing responsible business practices in global contexts. How do multinational corporations balance profitability with social responsibility? How do cultural values influence ethical business decisions? How do global supply chains affect local communities? These questions have implications beyond academic circles.

When I’m not analyzing market data, you’ll find me exploring Hong Kong’s incredible street food scene, hiking the surprisingly extensive trail network that surrounds this urban environment, or practicing calligraphy – it’s meditative and helps me understand Chinese business culture from a different angle. I also mentor international students navigating Hong Kong’s unique blend of Eastern and Western academic expectations.
